It started with “old guitar amp smell”
New car smell is overrated
Sometime in the late 90s I was loaned a Marshall half-stack. There began a journey into the mystery of how tubes sound so good. There was something about the technology – the look, the smell – something about it being made right here in the UK many years earlier; something about hours of listening to music that had all been recorded on it. And now it is here in my teenage bedroom. I needed to make sense of this.
Our mission — the pendulum swings
A whole generation of players has grown up on modeling amps and plugins. It’s never been easier—or cheaper—to start exploring guitar tones.
But something is missing. Digital convenience can’t fully replace the character, feel, and inspiration of real tubes. And as always, the pendulum swings: players will keep searching for new ways to shape sound, and tubes will remain a vital part of that journey.
At Tubewatt, we believe tubes will always matter. Our mission is to make them easier to integrate, so builders and manufacturers, can focus on creating—smaller more integrated products.
We also make modern digital tools, like our compact IR loader module, giving you more flexibility and options in your designs.
